Artists for Ukraine

Due to Russian aggression in Ukraine, many people lost their lives, families, and homes. Even more had to leave their country and lost everything they had, including jobs and equipment needed to conduct their business.
I’m not able to not get emotional while writing about this, so let’s get straight to the point.

1. Artists for Ukraine

I want to bring to attention an initiative, “Artists for Ukraine” – its goal is to provide equipment to Ukrainian artists that lost their own due to the war. If you have any spare equipment you want to donate, they will find a person who needs it. They will then connect the two of you so you can organize the shipping etc.

This initiative is organized by Aleksandr Kilimnik, Min Guen, and Jama Jurabaev. I found out about this action in one of the FB groups about art: click here to see the post.

Here’s a recent message from Jama Jurabaev about this initiative:

With your help, we were able to connect over 100 Ukrainian artists with artists all around the world who stepped forward and shared their equipment with those who desperately needed it.

Reading messages from artists who received a tablet, an iPad or a table from a person they don`t even know is so moving.

You guys are amazing.

Also, wanted to thank you the team of people behind this initiative.

To all our volunteers. None of this would be possible without you.

But still have some work that needs to be done.

Nearly 300 artists filled out the form on our website. And a lot of them need laptops or ipads.

I understand that donating a laptop could be a bit of heavy lifting for a lot of us, so we were thinking of launching a gofund.me campaign and hopefully collecting some funds to cover this.

2. UKRAINIAN DESIGNERS, ANIMATORS, VFX ARTISTS

There’s another initiative run by Alex Topaller and Dan Shapiro. It’s directed to Ukrainian designers, animators, and VFX artists.

It takes place in Poland – its goal is to connect ukrainian artists to VFX companies that can accommodate your business in Poland and help. Here’s a post with more pieces of information:

I will try to update this post with new initiatives that can help Ukrainian artists.

I want to ask you to help Ukrainian refugees locally if there are any in your town or country. Unfortunately, I saw awful Russian propaganda directed to harm those people.

Please be careful and verify the donations and initiatives before you join any.
